on the city and the lake all at once, and the colors of the sunset whittle
to a single sweeping tide of purple gray.
The reflections in the water speak intensely for the things that the day

The lake is calm; it has all the time
to lovingly pause and blur the lines
of the austerity with which the sun defined the landscape during the day.
The sun has set a while ago; shadows migrate from the land and sink in the water as the lake gathers them in a calm; an ethereal peace pervades.
