Things Are Not Always As They Seem

Things are not always as they seem
And that wisdom though repeated over time
leaves a leeway for the dream
that probably there is something that does rhyme,
and defies the cold reason that rules our life.
The Unicorn looks like a horse
running breathless in search of the dream.
But why the aberration from the norm;
we wonder looking at its horn.
Things are not always as they seem
and that is the reason why we dream.
The ballerina in her ecstasy swings;
the dervish whirls and sings;
the bird on its frail wings
sweeps the length of sky
to land in a region it seeks.
We in a doubt persuade our mind to think
can such passion be true?
Things are not always as they seem.
The ecstasy is temptation;
the prayers of the monks and the nuns
never come true because the stubborn things of life
will never let them be true.
And yet somewhere the Unicorn runs
with that unseemly horn on its brow;
somewhere a ballerina swings
on her tired leg endlessly;
somewhere the dervish goes in a trance;
somewhere slowly bridges are getting built;
somewhere the season turns;
somewhere the sun rises behind the hill
somewhere in spite of all
there is a place and a reason to dream.
