For Vrinda 11 Oct 2017 The seaside Town, Hill Road, Bandra

On a misty day
the fog came down
and spread over the town
here, the expanse is an endless gray.

The tones of the gray
caught in the sway
of misty winds
and the sun unwinds
in the brighter tones of blue.

From here the sea is far away.
Yesterday the distant murmur of the sea
surrounded me in a cordial embrace.
Tonight the sea is a memory
like a shadow migrating over a hill.

I met you in that coastal town,
and over a quiet lunch
we hugged our dreamlike childhood town.
We wandered in and out of the heritage lanes
as the sun inclined in a restful pose.

A daredevil tide surged forth,
reminding us of those days
when time broke out of the frame
and cascaded through the window pane.

And in the evening I drove out of that town
as the road kept weaving back and forth
in those alleys, I was leaving behind,
a day when a fog came down
and spread over the town.
